Oxford Commons is a hospitality company built upon a foundation of dreamers and doers, with a mission to create spaces that foster fellowship, humility, exploration and curation.

OUR STORY

On September 24th of 2012, we opened the doors to our first concept, Oxford Exchange in Tampa, Florida. Designed in the spirit of human engagement, Oxford Exchange is ultimately a gathering place housing a collection of ideas and experiences under a single roof. Oxford Exchange is a place, put simply, where community happens.

Six years after the opening of Oxford Exchange, on September 21st of 2018, we opened our second concept, The Library Restaurant in St Petersburg, Florida. The Library, located within Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, is inspired by the George Peabody Library in Baltimore. At The Library we hope to connect the community and honor the namesakes of George Peabody and Johns Hopkins through inspired spaces and a shared meal.

In early 2019, we are opening our third concept, The Alexander Brown Restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland. The Alexander Brown Restaurant is located within the oldest bank building in America; built in 1901 and still owned by the Brown Family, we are setting out to bring this stunning space to the next generation, for a new era. At The A.B. we will deal in the currency of conversation and community.

Through the experience gained in the creation of our hospitality concepts, we developed full-service design and creative concepts, Oxford Design Studio and Oxford Creative Studio. Oxford Design Studio offers both residential and commercial interior design services, and Oxford Creative Studio offers full-package branding and digital design services. Both of our studios have designed all of our concepts from both a physical and digital perspective.

FAMILY OF BRANDS

We want Oxford Exchange to be a place, put simply, where community happens.

We began with a mission to create something that would cultivate community and conversation. Designed in the spirit of human engagement, Oxford Exchange is ultimately a gathering place housing a collection of ideas and experiences under a single roof. Just as the name suggests, we drew inspiration from the historic clubs, libraries and shops of London, whose charm and history seem to spark spontaneous social interaction.

We aspire to connect the community and honor our namesakes through inspired spaces and a shared meal.

Johns Hopkins was inspired by his close friend George Peabody to use his great wealth for the public good. The collaboration between these men and the institutions they created is the inspiration for our restaurant, located within Johns Hopkins’ All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.

At The Library, the familiar aroma of coffee, the promise of a delicious meal, and the anticipation of friendly buzz will offer a reprieve from the daily chaos. It is where the community as a whole comes to refill their cup, both proverbially and, often, quite literally.

We are ushering in a new era on Baltimore and Calvert Street not by starting over, but by embracing what we already have.

The Alexander Brown building has called the corner of Baltimore and Calvert Street home for over a century, providing an epicenter of banking and business to the City of Baltimore. Although centuries have passed, and Alexander Brown & Sons has since been purchased by a national bank, the Brown family still owns the building today.

This iconic building has opened a new chapter with a different type of commerce as The Alexander Brown Restaurant. Although banking will no longer take place within the historic walls, The A.B. will deal in the currency of conversation and community. At The A.B., we look forward to providing a historic setting for modern conversation, phenomenal food, and worldly design for guests from near and far.
